Insurance for your ATV - Not a bad idea!!!!!
#1
Hello all,
I recently had a friend wreck and trash my 3 week old Scrambler 500. If you're interested, the thread link is below:

Currently, I'm awaiting a quote to fix my ATV and I fully expect the quote to be $2000 + dollars. I called my insurance company crossing my fingers that my homeowners might cover the expenses. As expected, NO.
My agent said that the ATV could be covered under a separate policy for about $60 a year. The cost depends on the total CC's (much like road bike insurance). SO.. if you fear your bike may be stolen or crashed it's something to think about!
Small price to pay. The cost I am going to have to pay to repair my bike would have given me appx. 30 years of ATV insurance if I had had the foresight.
Just passing on costly life lessons to my fellow ATV enthusiasts.

Man I heard about your friend and I wish him well. Yes insurance is a smalll investment. I pay @160 -170 a year for a 100 ded for 05 V2 650 and a 06 500 TRV. Insurance is to cheap compared to the purchase price.

Make your friend fix your bike dude. Not to bash him but if he has any character at all he will make it right. I laid my buddies Honda Shadow down a couple summers back....That was a $3000 lesson....

Something else to concider :
The loss of the ATV is minor in the scope of things , with the way insurance companies investigate anymore - is it possible you will be held liable for the hospital bills ?
It may not be by your friend - but by his insurer . I have seen stranger things happen .

All good points....
1. My friend has a great deal of character and I'm sure he will step up when it comes to my ATV & repair; however, more importantly, he is doing very well and on his way back to recovery.
2. I seriously doubt he would be asking for hospital bills but I'm sure there are people AND insurance companies out there that would!! Insurance would be a must for that!
3. As soon as I get my quad back up and running, it's going to be insured.

That's is a good price, but check what all it covers.
I have mine insured for two reasons. Theft, and in case it is totaled. Haven't had to use it yet, but have had to fix some minor accidents. No sense in paying a 150 deductable for 250 in parts.

True! My insurance agent said most people get it for theft. He told me some HUGE number that I can't remember of the amount of ATV's stolen in a year. It's ridiculous!!!
Again, I think it's worth the $$.
