Default 250 engine repair... $?

I ran across a Trailblazer for sale with an engine in need of repair.

The guy told me they said it was the rings.
I don't know any more than that yet....

Likewise, I am not really familiar with the Polaris 2 stroke engines either.
How much money are we talking here to fix something like this?

Is this one of those situations where a person would be better off going all the way through it...
Or one where it would make sense to tear down, upgrade, modify....

I think I can do the work, except if this is a situation for machining... boring, porting, polishing...
That I can't do.

So what would be the suggestions here?
What kind of money are we talking?
Where's a good source of parts?

THANKS GUYS

Call Rick at Ritter Cycle and talk to him. He'll have some good options at a good price for you.

Well, thanks for the link.

It looks like I could sink like $1,200 in the whole thing to get it all fixed and have a complete system that's tuned to work together.... built engine/pipe/clutch combo.

That's provided there is no major unforseen damage.
Seems like a good bit to be considering investing in a way.

But I bet all that would set the trail blazer on fire though.

You never said what year it is. If it's a 03 or newer, then the overall money would be 2400 (purchase and repairs). That's really not a bad price.

if its liquid cooled i would go thru the cooling system flush, make sure there are no air bubbles make sure the fan is working, before you ride it again and burn it up, your pinging sounds like it was overheating, check the cooling system over.then i would check the plug to see if its running lean.
