Clutch weights replaced = nice smooth engagement!
#1
Just an update....
My wife's 2006 SP500 EFI (second owner, out of warranty) was not engaging its clutch until the ~2300 RPM range. With the engine revved that high, engagement was somewhat "grabby" and she didn't like it. The mechanic at the local dealer said his 450 had been that way too, and suggested bumping up the clutch weights a bit. The factory originals were (IIRC) 46 grams and he installed 50's.
Result: MUCH better behavior and a much happier wife. Engagement begins around 1700-1800 now and takeoff is very smooth and controllable.
