Default oil change

I was wanting to do my first oil change on 500efi but can't locate loctite 565. Local dealer said to use Yamabond 4. What do you think?

What would you be putting Loctite on, the oil plug?

Okay I know what you are talking about. I never took mine out because it is so tight I thought I was going to break it when I tried. I don't know how important it is to clean that screen out. I suppose I should get mine cleaned, huh. I wouldn't think you would have to clean that with every change though.

Thanks, I've decided it might be more trouble than it's worth. I've been reading a lot at different pages and a lot of people have broken theirs trying to get them out and several people with many miles have never even attempted to remove, they just drained oil and changed filter...Thanks for the quick response

No problem. I didn't know others had broken theres but I tried to get mine out and felt like I was definately going to break it so I just let it be. I've had my Scrambler for over a year now and been through several oil changes and no problems yet. Good luck if you do decide to try and take it off.

For what its worth, on my scramblers first and second oil changes - there wasnt a spec of anything on that oil tank screen. I doubt I will ever pull it again.

Ill just keep on top of regular oil and filter changes (I dont want to risk cracking the oil tank by removing that fitting). I suspect if anything of notable size gets stuck on that screen - I have bigger issues to worry about

A couple wraps of Teflon tape works well.
