My dad traded in our farm machine(honda 300), for a 350es 2wd, and I didn't want the es, but I wanted the floorboards and speedo. It turns out that I would actually drive the es over the foot shift. you'll get used to it soon if you get one.
I did. one thing I don't like about the 4by4 is that when you downshift, it jerks you forward slightly,(because of the front differential) and when you hit the button, it shifts right then. with a foot shift, you can smooth out the shifts.(if you have a foot shift, you know what I mean) you will be happy with an es though.
top speed for: 4by4 rancher-83kms(52mph)
2wd rancher-86kms(54mph)

i was able through family members to ride both the ES and manual shift Ranchers. I liked em both, I did buy the ES because of the excellant floorboards and the speedo and such. You will like your Rancher I think.
