Default Warn Winch Install

I have a 2005 Sportsman 400 with the Glacier plow system. Currently instead of using a winch mounted to the ATV, I am using the "mini" winch that Polaris sells that attaches to the plow itself. The switch and wiring looks like it can be easily adapted to connect to Warn ATV mounted winch. I can get a good deal on a Warn 2.5 winch and am considering installing it and using it for the plow, etc. I have a Polaris brush guard bumper on my ATV. Will using the Warn winch with the plow cause the cable to rub against the brush guard? I also have seen on one post that the winch mount from Cabelas extends past the bumper. Does anyone know if it extends past the brush guard or should I get a Polaris mount from my dealer?

Also, is there anyone familiar with the wiring set up for the "mini" winch? There are just 2 wires going to the winch which originate under the plastic cover in the front storage rack. They are connected to a connector that has wires going to the battery and the rocker switch. I thought I could just connect the 2 wires to the new Warn winch. But, after reading posts about solinoids and contactors I wonder if this will work.

Thanks in advance.
Keith
