Default 2004 AC 650 V-Twin blowing main fuse (30a)

I have a problem. I just installed a winch & snow plow, now on occassion the quad blows the main 30 amp fuse & will only start with pull starter. Also it will only run for about 2 minutes with fuse blown & then dies. Any help would be great, thanks.

fix the wiring you added, which is what caused the problem

Everything is by the book, unless there is a problem with the winch itself?

Well, look at it this way. The machine didn't blow fuses before your changes and now it does. So where would a logical person start looking for the trouble? That's right, at the last changes made. So start lookin".

its obviously not by the book if your blowing a fuse, which should have nothing to do with the winch, the winch should be fused completely seperate from the rest of the bike's electrical. remove the wiring from the winch and see if it blows if it doesn't which it prolly won't you still have a issue with the wiring you added, nothing we can tell you will help if you refuse to believe its something you did

Are you sure it is your main fuse? If it does blow there is no way you can start it, or keep it running.

You probably have a short, I would start with your ground wire.

On another note, you should replace your main fuse with a mini circut breaker. They are a life saver and cost only $10 at NAPA. I also have one in for my fan fuse.

Only 2 causes, Short or you have wired it up wrong and are overloading the circuit. The winch should be wired thru the winch relay directly to the battery.
