American Legion Post 572 Donates ATV To Parma Fire
In June 2006 Joseph Jacubic Amercan Legion Post 572 purchased a Polaris Ranger 6x6 for the Parma Fire Department. This generous donation will assist our firefighters responding to emergencies in our wooded areas. Just recently the Cleveland MetroParks leased 300 acres of land from the City of Parma known as The West Creek Reserve. Parma Fire is the responsible entity for emergency response to this area. With several hundred more acres of wooded area in Parma, this vehicle is needed to access off road paths and heavily wooded areas. This vehicle will not be used as often as our other vehicles but when it is needed it will prevent injury and further discomfort to all involved.
The American Legion does not want this donation to be the final part of this project. They want to help pay for accessories that we are also looking into, including a medical bed to carry a patient and some type of portable fire pump with tank. A med bed at a cost of $1,600 has been ordered and Post 572 has asked to put in a request to them for payment. The cost of the all terrain vehicle was $9700.00.
