Default brake pads on ArcticCat

I have an 01' 300 4x4.When I first got it the pads wore out with in a year.Second set wore out in about 2 years so I thought I'ld try something different.I took some used car pads and widdled them to fit. They been on there since but I dont ride as much neither.

Problem now is that it dont stop on a dime like it use to.It'll slow down but wont lock the tires now.It scary knowin if you need to stop fast, you cant.

Whats the problem?

Pads are pads aint they,or do I need to spend $100 on 3 sets of ATV pads.
I also have to pump the lever sometimes.

I have a 2004 500 and sometimes it acts up that I have to pump the had brake , and I've heard more than one person say the same.

as far as the pads -- my suggestion would be to use the pads that suppose to fit the bike JMO
