02 Raptor...wont start!!
#1
Well maybe it was to cold to ride after all. I warmed my quad up for about 5 minutes. It started with no problem at all even though its 12 degrees out here. I jumped on and started off, after about a mile out the quad stalled. It would not start. I dont know a whole lot about my quad yet but I checked everything I thought of. When I try to start it sounds like it wants to start but will not. I checked the fuel and it was full. Then I checked the fuel switch and I noticed that the lever was moved into the reserve tank..UNREAL...I have no idea how that happened but I was indeed running off the reserve tank. I switched it back but still , it will not start. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks alot.

the reserve takes gas from the same tank, just from a lower spot in the tank. when you say you checked everything you thought of, what exactally did you check? did you pull the fuel line off the carb and see if it was getting gas? spark plug, etc?

Oh nope...It was so damn cold out there that I had to get out of there..All i checked was the gas, fuel lever, oil, coolant.. i guess that stuff has nothing to do with it not turing over. I had to push it a long way out..Now Im warming up. Is it pretty easy to check the fuel line? And the spark plug? Thanks alot for all the help.

turn the fuel to off. follow the fuel line from the fuel petcock (switch) to the carb and pull it off. now get a cup to catch the gas and turn the fuel to on. if it comes out of the fuel line then your carb is getting gas. i dont know where the spark plug on a rappy 660 is but its probably on the top of the motor, theres a thick ignition wire leading to a boot over it. pop off the boot and get the spark plug out with a deep well socket. the plug electrode should be tan in color. to ckeck for spark, put the plug in the boot and hold it against your frame or motor.while holding it against the frame or motor, hit the start button and see if it sparks. keep us posted, theres alot of guys here that know alot more than i do and they always are helpful!

Hey lucasislight thanks alot. I will be heading out in the morning to see if the carb is getting gas. As far as the spark plug goes I think I have to take the gas tank off and stuff. I will look more into that but thanks alot.

If the bateery is even a little weak it wont spark. I have seen it many times.Sometimes they turn over seeminlgy fine but can still be to weak to fire it. Try jumping it from a running car or truck.
