Default Predator 525 or 450? What would you buy?

If polaris came out with a predator 525 and a predator 450, which would you choose?

Seeing that putting a 525 engine in the outlaw 500 caused the outlaw 30 lbs, i think that would be possible on a predator too.

So here is what a predator 525 and a predator 450 would be like

525:
-405lbs(current weight for 2007)-30=375lbs
-stock preddy shocks
-single carb (twin optional)
-razr2 tires

450:
-maybe 10lbs lighter than the 525 at 365lbs (3lbs less than a ltr450 and 8 lbs less than a 450Er)
-efi
-stock preddy TLD shocks or the walker shocks on the accessories page for the preddy
-razz1 tires (razr 2 optional)

If that is going to be the only differences between the 450 and the 525, what would you choose? And what are you hoping for in the outlaw 525 and/or 450 if they get releashed in 2008-'09
-State some changes you would like.
-Would you like polaris to discontinue the preddy 500?
-or would you like them to just have an engine swap- adding a 525, or a 580 big bore in stock form?

Depends on your riding style. I personally will never(well, I don't think as of now).....race with anything but a straight axle quad. The predator has more options available for it already(older).....so that is why I'd choose it too. I'd like to see either a 450 or a 525 in the pred. A LIGHTER engine would be nice!!! Many guys already have the 525 in their preds(before the outlaw came with it).....it takes a lot of work, but I guess it runs real good!

The '07 Outlaw 525 is actually 44 lbs lighter than the '06 500 Outlaw and 39 lbs of this is said to be because of the engine.

My money is that the Predator will come out with the 525. I think they are going to go after the XC crowd. The IRS on the Outlaw is outstanding and I love the way it handles. But for the pros that have been riding sra quads all there life and do not want to take a season to make the minor tweaks to their riding style for the IRS Outlaw could jump right on a 525 sra Predator that would be lighter than the other 450's, have reverse and outstanding power out of the box.

The talk in the other predator forums, is they are somewhat planning on making the outlaw the new "deal".......and the predator will be eventually worked out of production.

This would be a collassal mistake IMO, Polaris needs the pred in the lineup to be taken seriously in the sport quad world. The 525 outlaw looks like it'll be nice and all, but it can't take the place of Polaris' first (and as of now only) true sport quad.

I doubt its a 39 lb diff in the engines though.

The outlaw 500 also lost 14 lbs.
2006 is 439lbs- 2007 is 425lbs

The 500 didnt receive a new engine, therefore, it must have been the frame/chassis that lost wieght.
If the 525 engine is 39lbs lighter than the 500 engine- That means that polaris ceo must have bumped his head too hard on a trail ride and that he decided to use the heavy 2006 frame.

If that is true, then they could have used a 2007 frame instead which would cause them to lose another 14 lbs, which would put it at --------5LBS LIGHTER THAN A 2005 400EX-----

if that isnt stupidity, i dont know what is. They could have had a raptor killer, but instead came up with a mere raptor rival!

How much work is it to put a 525 engine in the outlaw 500? It cant be more work than putting a Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 engine in a Can-Am DS650.

So is it really that hard? or are most ppl just to lazy to do some welding. Seeing how they are both single cylinder engines, it shouldnt be too much of a squeeze. Or is the chain located on the wrong side. (some sportbike engine-quad conversions have that problem.)

SO WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE IF THE 450PREDDY AND THE 525 PREDDY WERE THE SAME PRICE? CONSIDERING THE TYPE OF RIDING THAT -YOU- DO.

Don't you think that the huge increase in 525 engines out on the trail caused by the release of the outlaw 525 will make parts just as easy to find as any stock polaris part at a local dealership?
