Default RIM FINISH WHICH IS MORE DURABLE BLACK OR MACHINED?

hello looking at picking up a set of rims the ones im looking at come in black or machined clear coated was wondering which type of finish will be more durable common sense tells me the black but the machined looks alot better, seems like the terrain would tear the machined finish up and the black all you need is alittle paint, anyway could use some help? thanks

you could get your self a spray can of clear coat to keep the rims looking good, but a scratch in clear coat will be alot harder to find. but since the rims are aluminum it waont rust once the paint/clear chips away. i would go with machined, unless the black finish is powder coatt

thanks thats what i was thinking just was not sure how durable the clear coating was on the rims, seems like they would take a beating on a atv with mud, gravel, etc, but dam they look nice! was looking at the new vision line.

I have a set of ITP Type 7's in black powdercoat. I love the look of the wheels, and the finish is surprisingly durable. I use automotive touch-up paint to fix any chips or scratches. The wheels are machined aluminum under the powdercoat, so any chips or scratches are very noticeable until I touch them up. Personally, I think the machined finish will be lower maintainance for you, it will hide any battle scars much better. I like the look of black powdercoat so much that it is worth it for me, but you may feel otherwise...
