Catastrophy at Glamis. Help if you can...

I'll leave out the gory details of having 20 different riders with 20 different machines and capabilities in camp trying to get in some quality duning time.
My problem is now a major one. Casey was laying the smack down on a herd of 450's, except for one bad azz Suzuki with a pretty skilled rider, and I noticed when he would make a few runs and then restart the bike it would puff BLACK smoke a few times. Wasn't running hot and seemed to be moving along just fine. Even the many hours of dune cruising that we put in it ran flawless.
Pulled back into camp Sunday evening and noticed a bunch of crud about an inch and a half in from the counter sprocket (top of the case). Shot it with some carb cleaner to get a better look and it appears that the tooth of a gear or some other pointed object has punched up through the case. The crud is where oil is seeping through the hole and collecting dust. The crazy thing is that I noticed the dirt Saturday and thought nothing of it and the bike was ran hard as hell all weekend with the problem. No grinding, clattering, clanging, or any out of the ordinary noises or performance... WTF?
And if anyone has a stock cluth cable in their way I would love to take it off of your hands. Snapped mine right at the lever. Gotta love those 80% springs! Or if there is some sort of kit to repair that end with a new cam (or whatever that piece is called) I would appreciate the info.
Sorry so long winded but I need help on this one guys. Looks like I'm going to have to miss out on Race 2, which sucks so bad. Ray was going to have Casey race that 800 Turbo/NOS Beast of his.

Ace...
You can get a cable-end repair kit at almost any automotive parts place and some lawnmower dealers to get you by in a pinch...no gaurantee with the 80% springs! I recently went to the BMW dealer and bought a clutch cable for the f650 ($22) but it does not have the exact same cable ends, or the "quality" of the DS OEM cable. The other part of your delima is definately serious--I can't imagine what might have come loose... ...ebay is chock full of replacement parts right now. Best of luck!
