06 Rancher 4x4 FM, Chains?
#1
I was driving upnorth this weekend and saw quite a few 4x4 quads on trailers with chains on the rear wheels but not the front. We have a lot of snow and frozen lakes here in Michigan and most of these quads are being used for ice fishing. My question is. I have a 06 4x4 Rancher which is fulltime 4x4. Would putting chains on the rear and not the front cause damage to the front differental? I will probably never do it / need it, but this question came up and thought you guys might know. Thanks

I just bought it a few months ago. I have a cottage in northern Michigan and I keep it up there. It has been bitter cold up there and this is the first time I have been up in over a month. Went out in the garage and the darn thing started right up. Blew my mind. I hear all the talk about carb versus EFI but I am completely impressed with this ATV. Plenty of power for me and I am 6'2" and weigh 215 lbs. I drove it around in the snow which varied from a few inches to a couple of feet deep. Didn't even slow it down. Granted the snow up there has a crust over it now and it is not the wet type that tends to be more difficult to get through with out getting stuck. Mine is the manual shift and I will use it as a work ATV hauling wood, boats etc up a long hill from the Ausable river. I researched quads for quite a while and settled on the 350 Rancher FM as I hear they are pretty bullet proof. Most of the guys on here say good things about them and that's what helped me make my decision. Hope you enjoy yours. Good luck.
