Is it smoking??? You aren't burning tons of oil out the exhaust are you???? Do you end up with a bunch of oil in the airbox????

Has to be going somewhere, I would take it to a good Honda dealer and request a leak down test down, anything over say 15% your motor is bad. This test will tell you where your motor is having a problem also, leaking valves, rings.

Are you using Honda oil or what kind, I've hade experince in some oil's causing oil buring and Honda won't unless your motor is worn out.

I know of several people who have experienced massive oil consumption with the 450 engine using Honda oils, and a switch to Maxima Extra cured their problem. But, the 400EX has a long history, and no such problem has come up with them.

The 400ex and the 450r motor are totaly different, Honda has said themselves that the 450r motor when you run it hard WILL USE OIL.
