I am getting my first quad this month and would like to know what tools do I need for doing maintenance and minor repairs? Is everything metric? Chemicals? Do I need both a battery charger and a tender?

From everything I've read sounds like I'll be spending more time in the garage.

KQ700 for me and Honda420 for the wife.

Appreciate any advice you can give me.

 

a general set of mechanics tools , you can pick up specialty tools as you go along ......

 

A good service manual is really nice to have. The owners manual will only take you so far, depending on how much work you actually plan on doing yourself.

A good quality service manual will help out a lot. Most everything should be metric on either quad. another good thing to think of is investing in an atv jack, sears sells a good one, also walmart has one too. That will help out a lot if you do the brakes or swap some tires by yourself, plus it brings everything up to a good working height if you have a chair or a creeper/mechanics seat.

 

Get a Battery Tender Jr. that will be good enough.. you can even swap it between the two machines now and then...

I'll get repair manuals, battery tender, tire repair, jack and up grade my tool box to start.
