Purple wire, reverse override for TB AND Scrammy...but...
#1
I bypassed the override button on my wife's '04 Trailblazer by cutting the purple wire that comes from the button on the bars. Worked like a champ. So, pulled the hood of my Scrambler and did the same thing. Also worked like a champ, BUT...now I have a concern...will I still have 4x4 in reverse? I don't have a schematic for the Scrammy to see how it's wired up. I was assuming it was the same at the TB, butmaybe not. Does pushing that button close another circuit to engage the 4x4 or is it removing the voltage off that line bypassing the limiter AND the circuit that DISengages the 4x4 for reverse?
I haven't had a chance to test it out in reverse to see if the 4x4 works yet... The button is definitely bypassed, though.

yes youll still have 4x4 in reverse.. on my 01' I had to rebuild half the tranny due to a chain explosion and when i was in the i broke the reverse ov. switch that tells your gov. that you are in reverse, so now I dont have to push the button and I do still have 4x4 in reverse. but dont hit the gas to fast or it likes to try to send you over the handle bars....from experiance....

Tried that. From what I can tell is that it does not work. However, my buddy who has a Scrambler says the rear wheels have to spin a bit before the front engages. According to his experience in the snow. He claims the front engages much quicking going forward than in reverse. I can spin the rear tires in the rocks for a second, but the front does not engage. It gets pretty hairy pretty fast so it's hard to know for sure.
I thought for sure someone on this forum would know...guess not. When I can get it into some slop I'll find out for sure.
THat's what I'm hoping for, Outlaw! If it's that easy, I'm shocked not more people have done it with the inquires I've seen on this board.

You probably do not have 4x4 in reverse if you just cut the purple wire. If you can tell me what color wires you have maybe I can help. I just looked at my wiring diagram to figure it out. I di a post on how I did mine on here I will post a link in a bit here.

Correct. I did NOT have 4x4 in reverse by simply cutting the purple wire. Yes, it bypassed the button but at the expense of no 4x4 in rev.
Thanks, furnace!
I was able to figure it out.
1. Cut the purple wire to the left handle bar mounted RO switch. I cut it at the 3 purple wire access. lead with female spade under the hood.
2. Jump the gray/white wire to red/white. I used scotch lock connectors and used a small jumper wire to connect red/white and gray/white together. I perform this under the hood. There is a red/white wire going up the 2nd harness to the left handlebar mounted housing.
Works perfect. No need to hit the button. Have 4x4 in rev. when AWD switch is ON and only 2x4 when it's off. No reverse light on when in forward "H" gear. I did jump to the 2 purple remaining wires and that worked, too, but had the "R" light on in "H" and when in "R". Going to red/white resolved this issue. Red/white is the feed wire to the shifter switch, thus this mod is no different than simply holding the RO button down the entire time EXCEPT no "R" light on when in "H"
