250x has no spark
#2
Hello jm69,
A loose connection is the usual problem but if a part is out I would say the odds are the coil first (which can be tested) then the CDI (cannot be reliably tested except to swap for a known good one). What tests have you done?
I am having a problem as well with a 250X firing, posted at this thread:

Perhaps you could help me out I sure could use those colors

NO SPARK ?
When was the last time it was running and how did it come about?
Items in a list to check out!
1 spark plug
2 ignition coil
3 ignition module
4 pulse generator
5 A.C. Regulator
6 kill switch.
7 wire came loose
8 ignition switch

possibly a bad rectifier.. also, I was having trouble with mine.. turns out it was the wires that go to the reverse/neutral switch down by where the reverse cable hooks up.. up under that cover. I'd take that multi-meter and individually check every wire. Happened once before that one was barely burnt through causing it not to spark, but it was just enough. Took me forever to find it.

yes, if it is bad i believe it thinks that it is in reverse thus giving you no spark.

I have the same problem with mine I believe. I check the wires going to the switch with an ohm meter and it has continuity no matter if its in reverse or not, so I thing my switch or wires may be bad.
