I put 1000 miles on my 2006 Sportsman 450 last year from the end of June to around Nov/06...

Some guys at work have around 1000 miles also ....But their sportsman's are around 1998/1999.
So some get ridden very hard could have very low miles.........Then some with high mileage could have never benn in 4x4.

One guy at work never goes on the trails or off his land with his.........He only plows and hauls wood with it!!!!.............Just know what to look for if buying used!!!!!.............Caper............

 

i have 1200 miles on my 05 800 and was wondering how many mile before yhey wear out? I take really good care of do the maintanence on it keep it clean and shedded, but i ride fairly aggressive, i just wonder how long it will last.

 

To me it depends alot on how the bike is maintained. I just traded up to a 700 grizzly from my 06 that had 3,500 miles on it. The ATV ran great and I had no troubles for the 16 months I had it.

So for me, I would say alot of mile would be like 7-8,000 miles. you've got a long time before ya wear it out seeing you take care of it.

My bud that had 5,500 miles on his 04 700 sp before he traded up to an 06 efi.

I think some may have up to 20,000 miles and still going!!!...Caper.......
But most if not all the older ones ...Don't have odometer so people are giving a real good guess!!!!

I bought a old 89 350 Big Bear 3th hand that looked like it had a zillion miles on it (speedo never worked) I put another 1000 miles on it before a person bought it off me and he put more miles on it than I did and its still running strong.

My highest mileage toy is a 96 ski-doo 500 twin fan cooled with 7500 miles and its still has run like new with 135psi in each cylinder and thats a 2 stroke!

It is well knowed a 4 stroke is a longer living motor so you would think 7000 miles would be nothing for them. A Yamaha XT 660 off/on road motor bike has the same engine as a 660 Yamaha ATV and the XT is well known to pass 30,000 miles easily.

 

I always go back to a rather "funny" story. A local dealer was selling used ATVs (as well as new) and I was interested in a used machine at the time. I asked what they considered high miles and they told me 3000. I thought that can't be. Being new to the sport I didn't know any better at the time and learned that wasn't the case later. Just goes to show, never trust a dealer.

Another dealer was dumb enough to try and tell me they would throw in features that were either part of a nationwide polaris promotion (assuming I didn't know), or came stock (assuming I didn't know again). And then proceeded to tell me he would make me a deal. And sell it for the same price on the sticker. I walked out.

 

i have about 1800 on my lil sporty.. runs like a top but i eat cvs and and frt diff"s...OH BEER!!!!

 

I bought a 03 sp500 w/around 250 miles and 50 something hours ........I dont think the guy I bought it from used it alot......it sat up for a while and I had to work a few kinks out of it but now I ride the sh*t out of it...Ill have a thousand miles in no time!

 

I have a 05 SP800 with 3,800 mies on it and the only thing i had to do to it was put on a new sensor. I beat the hell out of it, but I keep fresh fluids in it all the time and clean the mud off it.
