Default 1994 400L overheating

Hi - I've read the posts about the overheating issues reagarding dirty radiators. After about 15 minutes of use I can hear a noise at the front end, maybe the fan trying to kick on? The hot warning light comes on but does the fan do that much when it's 28 degrees out? Sometimes after pulling it in the garage I'll see a small stream of anti-freeze coming from underneath the middle of the ATV? Radiator is clean and fluids are full, could there be some other issue I could take a stabb at before the expensive trip to the dealer? I'm not even sure it's over heating but I'm not willing to take a chance. There is a definite grinding type noise after about 15 minutes of riding that appears to be coming from the fan area but I could be wrong and yes the fan spins freely. Thanks for any input and no I'm not a tech guy at all.

so is the fan coming on before the hot light comes on? first thing i would ask, is the water pump working/leaking? the fan would come on even at that low temp outside when the engine gets to hot. welcome to the forum.

make surer water pump is working, make sure the therostat isnt sticking shut. make aure theres no air in the system as a air bulb will make the light come on.

How would you make sure the water pump is working or the thermostat wasn't sticking? Sorry I'm really not much of a mechanic but I certainly appreciate your input.

if the top hose is not getting hot once the bike is up to temp. then the temo. is sticking closed not letting antifreeze circulate thru the engine. if water pump is bad then it wont cirulate at all. is the bike full of 50/50 antifreeze? did it boil out when it overheated? does the jug on the side have anti. in it? is the wire to the sensor hooked up or is the wiring damaged? things to check on.

Ok, let it run for quite awhile, fan not coming on, rad does not seem hot to touch after 20 minutes, finally the light came on, there is anti-freeze moisture where the bottom of the drivers side hose sits on the frame about mid unit, the levels are full but it doesn't seem like anything is in the system because it's easy to squeeze the hoses shut. Somethings gone bad I take it. Side note, what's the override button do?

let it run until the fan kicks on or it wants to overheat. you said the rad. wasnt hot, did you check both hoses to make sure they are the same temp. in feeling. becareful as they should be hot to touch. the water pump must be fine or it wouldnt run that long if it didint work.if the system is working right, then you should see the anti. level rise and fall when the machine is warn compared to when its cold in the resivor tank. the override button is to use when backing up to go faster. if you dont push it and try to back up fast it will hit the rev limiter and start to stutter. it also has to be pushed in while in reverse for the awd to work.
