broken frame 06 sport

bad experiance with dealer on this one-frame broken(top left just in front of air box mounting tab) and mufflers rubbing on rear springs-drooped my bike to dealer to have new frame installed and muffler problem fixed-dropped off on 2/21/07 and got back (1st time) on 3/26.dealer found lower front motor mount broke and placed it on order 3/5-on 3/19 i called and part not in yet-i was told it was on back order-i did my own checking around and found out part must be ordered under a "VDO"(vehicle down order)-the original mount is defective and only a limited supply is availible through a "vdo" - apparently they did not bother to check on this themselves and i believe had i not called them with this info they would still be waiting on the backordered part-so after a month i picked my bike up-at that time they told me they heated my header pipe up to lengthen it to gain clearance between the mufflers and springs-a little "barbarrack" but after all this time i was just happy the ordeal was over-1st ride out the bike began to run rough and eventually shut down-in the end i had to be towed out of the woods by my son on his 00 250 xplorer(at least he got a laugh that day)-while in the woods trying to find the problem of not charging we took the side panels off and i was disturbed at what i saw-when they bent the pipe to lengthen it it created a clearance issue where the pull start would be if i had one-so apparently their answer to this was to heat and crush the pipe to gain some clearance-when dropping the bike off with the charging problem i mentioned my disatisfaction with the header pipe(possible performance and long term damage because of reduced size of pipe)-they said they would try to get polaris to issue a new pipe-after 2 weeks this never happened-so i picked up the bike and called customer svc. at polaris and am now waiting to here from them-Eric the general manager at Kosco Harley/polaris in Kinnelon Nj said they were doing me a favor with bending the pipe-they ruined my pipe-they never called me to ask if this was ok-how about contacting polaris first not after you create a problem(oh that's right they need the customer to handle simple problems for them-ie. ordering the motor mount)Eric the GM just goes on in his smooth talk about how they did me a favor and did not charge me for the pipe bending or fixing the charging problem(which did not exist before all this-whether it was just a coincidence or bad work changing the frame i do not know) bottom line with Kosco-bad communication, arrogant GM and if i bought a harley i bet the treatment would be different--stay tuned

what a nightmare! i hate hearing those kinds of storys. it seems like theres no such thing as good customer support these days. and i cant stand those smooth talking store managers. there so phony. would you like me to go blow the place up? hope you get it all straightened out... they should also compensate you for the agony of it all..but of course that will never happen. *****!

no,i did not buy it at kosco--tried to but was $400 more than place 30 minutes away-asked salesman to meet me halfway on the $400($200 more) and i would buy from him-he said no-also i had my 15 year old son with me and Jason the salesman was apparently planning a party at his house at the time i was there and was too busy(on the phone)talking to someone about getting another pole for the girls to swing on-just what a 15 year old needs to here-how professional
my bike is an 800
polaris called me back(the resolution specialist-no kidding that was his title)and told me he spoke to Eric at kosco about my problem and i need to deal with him-duh!!!!! thats why i called polaris,to help settle this thing because kosco is jerking me around-the "resolution specialist"says kosco needs bike back so they can measure my exhaust pipe-this is when i lost control-kosco had the bike for 10 days(this last time)and Eric advised me that polaris had requested some measurements and pictures of the pipe-if in 10 days they could not do this it would indicate to me that they are just jerking me around-
end result with polaris---they do not stand behind their bikes, point the finger at the dealer(the dealer is pointing his at polaris) and the customer gets screwed
i have had 3 polaris' and have been a loyal customer but will buy a different machine next time
maybe the jap's will appreciate my money

Well for starters, buy a victory before even looking at a harley. And as for "lengthening the pipe" smashing it with a hammer is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I have only welded a few frames on the sportsmans(smaller models, not the 800) and can tell you they are pretty tricky to weld. All the sportsmans are made in roseau plant now. Did you try taking it to the dealer you bought it from. Sounds like a bunch of flunkys over at that dealer

I am sorry to hear about your experience, but I can tell you that you are on your own when you buy a Polaris. My family has owned over 20 Polaris bikes over the years, and it use to be that the Polaris organization would work with you. I personally had my own problem with my new '06 Sportsman and they treated me like absolute crap. There specialist's are about a joke and all they will do is tell you that the dealership has the last word, basically saying " hey sucker, we got your money and could care less about you". To be honest I can't believe that you actually got someone to call you back. When you are done dealing with Polaris's crap go talk to Arctic Cat, they actually stand by there products.
