Anyone have a gorilla or Viper winch mounted on their 06-08 Sportsman? Does it fit neatly behind that front plastic grill piece just like the factory winch? I want to buy one but not the factory $$$$$$$ winch if I can help it.

 

Gorilla will fit. They look just like the Warn winches. Not sure about the viper, but I would assume it would fit too!

 

I have a Gorilla winch. I ordered mine off of ebay and it was a great deal. I think that I paid $125 for the winch, winch specific plate, and roller fairlead. I had to drill the plate out a little to make it fit, approximately a inch to the left. I also had to cut my power cables running from the battery to the selonoid. The stock power cables on my bike would not fit, so I had to put smaller terminal leads to attach to the selonoid. But after the install I can vouche that the winch has more than enough power. I have used this winch numerous times and it has never let me down. I have probably used the winch 50 to 60 times, some of which were extreme and it has performed flawlessly.

 

Yea I heard there both pretty good as long as you lube them up with die electric grease!

 

The Viper and Gorilla winches are made by the same company in China and are the same. Just branded different for different importers.

I hada 2500 lb Gorilla on my X2 and liked it so much I replaced it with a 3000lb waterproof winch. The 2500 went on my old 400L. Both bolted right onto my X2 with little adjustment. Both had plenty of power.
