sportsman 500 rear end fluid

Default sportsman 500 rear end fluid

what type of fluid should I use in the rear end of my sportsman 500? any suggestions? is it real important to change?

If you have an older Sportsman(with the integrated rearend & tranny..you wanna use Polaris AGL fluid or a quality "chaincase" fluid...Amsoil etc..)

If you've got the newer style (w/the separate rear & gear box) I believe you use any synthetic 80-90 gear oil in the rear & the AGL in the tranny

.....not sure what year they went to the separate boxes...I've got a 2000 with the integrated rear

and yes its a good idear to change the fluid if you havent done it for a long time.

Default sportsman 500 rear end fluid

Does the 2008 500 ho carb model have seperate fluids for tranny and rearend? I have seen a check and fill plug hole on one side and what I think is a drain plug hole on the right side.I do not see anymore.It seems like it is all one fliud. Thanks for any help!
