We just picked up the magnum 2 months ago, what can I do to stop the vibration sound of the belt cover, it also sounds like the belt is rubbing on the cover, thanks

 

there is a gasket on the inside of the clutch cover, try replacing that, if that doesn't work, then you'll have to replace your clutch cover, should be 80 or 90 bucks

 

thanks for the info, say I dont replace the gasket, will I get alot of slippage in the clutch area if I go through water, Ive been reading where people have been getting slippage

 

if the gasket is bad it will let water/mud in and yes it wil cause slipage as well as wear to the clutches.

 

New cover also seems to be made of a different plastic composition that the other with a lower styrene content. It is less brittle than the old one. It is also suppose to have more room inside for the belt and internals so that you don't ave the same problems with clearance. This was also a problem with the older cover as it tended to shrink with heat and age which cased the internals to rub on and eventually right through the cover.

Invest in a new cover and gasket and while you've got it apart you might want to check the belt and replace it while you have everything torn apart. If it had been rubbing on anything it may need replacing too. Button everything up and you should be good as new. It will run a lot quieter as a bonus.

 

Check your engine mounts, It is rubbing for a reason, something shifted. Doc
