Default Found Problem, How Do I Fix?

My DS started acting up. If I have the headlights off you only can get going so fast and then it cuts out. But if I have my headlights on it runs normal. Any one have an idea? Thanks....

voltage regulation is not working, probably bad rectifier.

get a new rectifier/regulator...do a search on here for either one. Regulator or rectifier (they are the same thing, but diff. people use diff. names for them). You will see about 1000000000 more post where others had the same problem...including me! Good luck..check the garage post to get a new one. Remember that the plug is diff. for diff. year models! They changed after 03, I think, it was somewhere around in there. But you can always hardwire it! I know that nickds650 has one....

GOODLUCK!
