Default Stolen YFZ

About a month ago someone stole my 05 yfz450. I called the police that night they came out to the house blah blah blah. Long story short the kid was right down the rode and I caught him ridding it. Bad part is the chain came off and hit the case putting a small hole in it enough to leak oil. I caught him trying to put the chain back on so I know he didn't run it long like that. My question is I don't want to fix this thing I don't ride it anymore so what the heck do I do with a stole quad that has been recovered. He ground the frame where the vin is not bad but enough to take the numbers off. So you know anyone who looks at it will think is hot. We don't have to register quads in Va. so I guess I could just part it out. Any ideas

If you are in fact the owner and have documentation, and the vin # still shows up, then technically the quad is legit. mabe someone can chime in thats had their case fixed or patched in some manner.

A copy of any police reports to support the story would be a good thing.

Do you have a title already? Or the original bill of sale?

Sue the kid for the price of a new case or engine. You will win.

I went to court and won but it's hard to get any money out of someone who has no money. I would have love to take that money out of his @$$ but the cops drove up right as I stopped him.
