Default 06 500 AUTO MOTOR NOISE

I have a 06 500 and during accelaration there is a pinging or rattling noise. I have had yamaha's with the similar sound, but this is my first experence with a suzuki motor. Is this normal for a suzukl and is anyone else hearing a similar sound?

Thanks

hum. Well i have teh same ATV and i can't say i have any pinging.. but my ears are shot from shooting so much. but i'dd say mine sounds like a normal small engine. maybe try some higher octane gas. and check your oil level.

I could be a number of things, I had a similar sound and it turned out to be a clip on some of my plastic was vibrating against my exhaust shield and transmitting the sound to the engine - I could have sworn that it was engine noise.

Ping from gas is a lean mixture, low octain, or timing is off - no adjustment for timing but an incorrectly gapped spark plug will change the timing. Try regapping the spark plug and maybe make the carb a little richer. I like my sparkplugs to be a dark chollocate brown or close to black (but not sooty). This way it eliminates some possibility of running too lean and burning a hole in the piston.

Check the plastic on the exhaust pipe side and make sure it doesn't vibrate against the exhaust.

It could possibly be a loose/streched timing chain - would make noise and also throw your timing off.

Try a higher octain gas.

Put some carb/injector cleaner in your gas to clean out your fuel system.

You may also want to check the gap on your valves. Incorrectly gap can cause preignition/ping. - valves closing late.

Could also be a worn camshaft...

Could also be the CDI ignition, or battery, magneto related problem.

Other than that I don't know - lol

Start with the free and least expensive things and go from there.
