Default shifter saga 92 350 TRX

As the saga continues. I pulled the left crankcase cover to have a look at the shifting mechanisn. I have two distinct shifts two down then two up. Still haven't found neutral. Did not see anything that seemed abnormal. Will pull the right crankcase cover and remove the gear shift spindle, seems that it would come out without pulling right crankcase cover. I will take a look at the ratchet pawls, spring and drum shifer for damage or abnormal wear. Anyone have any experience with this and suggestions of what to be aware of or look for or to do or not do? If I am not over my head yet will be shortly.
Thanks Cam

So you have 1992 Honda 300, or is it a 87 350 foreman.

Well either way both pretty close.

Neutral is all the way down, then revrse. Far as problems seen most of the time on the left side, bolt backs out and or breaks off.

Just to make sure I understand. When one says neutral is all the way down; is that putting your toe under the shift lever and lifting it up to shift (down or back)? The shifter only shifts twice with distinct shifts, I would think that there should be more than two shifts. It is a 92 350 (n) fourtrax (I believe only in Canada) Thanks Cam
