Default Front Sprocket

I really don't want to sound stupid, but I am changing out my front sproket down to a 15tooth for 22" haulers and I was wondering if there are any certain steps I should take in removing the sprocket?

have someone hold the brake down and use an impact or breaker bar to remove the nut. Loosen the chain at the carrier and pull it off chain and all.
