Accident! Oil leak? (kazuma/meerkat 50)
#1
So, our little Kazuma 50 wound up upside down this weekend. Nobody's hurt, but some oil got out somehow. It made a mess of the little one, and is on the air filter, etc. When I got home and checked it out, I found oil seeping out from behind the chain guard and it seem like another spot as well.
No gas got out that I can see, and the oil is still at least halfway up the dipstick, so it couldn't have lost THAT much. I'm a little afraid to fire it up without asking for advice though. Is there any procedure I should follow, or preventive maintenance to take care of before trying to start it again? I can handle the little things that got goofed up, but the oil leakage is something I don't understand. Where did it come from? The dipstick stayed in place and I don't see any damage down there. I'd appreciate any advice I can get to help me not make this worse than it already is.
Thanks!

ummmm.. There is a small seal behind the sprocket cover that goes around the main shift that the front sprocket slides on to. You might want to take off the cover and get a look in there and let me know.

I took off the cover and didn't see any evidence of a big leak. I looked it over and decided to give it a shot. It started without using the choke. It seemed to run a little rougher than usual (it normally purrs), and it stalls out easier than it used to, but the engine evened out and the trans - at least 1st gear, works fine. They only use 1st gear for now, until they get the hang of it.
I has a vibration it didn't have before, and the alignment is off. The back of the front tires is about 1/2" wider than the front. The right front wheel wobbles a little, I assume it's a bent hub. The left rear wheel has even less of a wobble, but the right side seems fine. If I lift the front off the ground and roll it back and forth, I can feel the wobble. Any chance this could be as simple as a hub?
So I started it up and rode it from the garage to the shed. The throttle response isn't as snappy as it was before this happened. So...... if you'll bear with me, my problems seem to be: front end alignment and wobble (I think I can figure those out); rear end wobble (I'd appreciate help with that); and it's just not as responsive as it was, as well as stalling easier (I'd really appreciate help diagnosing any possible problem there). It seems as if it was easy to push even when in gear, which is new, but I'll have to check if it was in 4th or 1st - maybe there's no problem there, as it was able to carry my 180 pounds. Tough little things!
Thanks again for your time and help,
Tim

Didn't you say there was oil in the filter? You need a clean, or new filter if that is the case.
If your unsure about the oil, I would drain it and refill to the propper level. (Check the peephole)

There's oil on the air cleaner (filter housing) - I might as well get one to be safe. There's a quart of oil in the garage waiting for it. It was one of the things I planned on doing this weekend, but obviously it didn't get done yet. Thanks for the advice.
edit: Oh, I see your point. If it's not running quite as well as before, maybe some oil DID get into the filter. Sorry, been a long week(end).
