If you know a Veteran or the family of a lost Veteran, find a way to let them know that you are thinking about them on their day. I will be sending emails to my deployed buddies and getting in touch with the families of the friends that I have lost. Thanks for starting the thread.

"I was that which others cared not to be. I went where others feared to
go And did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who
gave nothing. And, reluctantly, accepted the thought of eternal
loneliness - should I fail. I have seen the face of terror, felt the chill of
fear, warmed to the touch of love. I have hoped, pained, cried. But,
foremost, lived in times others would say best forgotten. At the very
least, in later days, I will be able to say with greatest pride, That I was
indeed, a Soldier".

Nice quote Hobbles! Real touching
words that many of us can't relate
with. And then again a few do!
Yea, it puts things in perspective,
I for one really value all those who
wear the uniform especially in today's
modern combat zones. Man, what a
mess! With all the crazy politics over
our WAR battles, I just hope those
who serve KNOW well and good people
like US in these forums are proud and
happy to be AMERICAN!
Thanks for making my world a safer
place!

My 2 cents worth. I left Logan Airport with my wife, 2 sons, and 25 friends for a week long trip to Orlando, Florida on Sept. 11th, 2001. Our jet lifted off at about 6:30am that morning. As we were leaving Mahummed Atta and another terrorist were the last two to gather at Logan and were landing about the same time. We stopped in Baltimore, Maryland and lifted off from there at about 8:30am or so. At around 9 am the stewardesses were called to the front of the jet. I could not see them, but one of my friends that was further up said they dropped a tray of drinks and looked visibly shaken. We landed at Orlando and after getting off the plane noticed people running out of the terminal and everyone was on a cell phone. The tvs in the terminal were all turned off. We started asking people what was going on and did not initially believe what they were telling us about the World Trade Center. We asked the bellhops and they confirmed what had happened... We called relatives, family, friends, and coworkers to let them know we were okay and spent the first day praying and watching the news... A friend of my wife who came to our wedding was on one of the jets, a brothers coworker, too. A girl I worked with lost a cousin who was a fireman at the WTC. The terrorists hate us and all we stand for in this country. Right now the battle is being fought overseas by our country's bravest men and women. We have lost many but have also kept the terrorists on the run in Afghanistan and Iraq. To date, dozens of known Al Quaida operatives in the highest positions of their rankings have been killed or captured, with thousands of their fighters killed. These extremists do not want to talk about peace with us. They only consider us infidels who should be exterminated. To our brothers and sisters who are fighting the fight in Iraq, Afghanistan, and all over the world: Thank you, for fighting the fight so we in the US don't have too. Thank you, for keeping the fight on foreign shores. Thank you, for daily living through the terrors of war so we can live freely here. Thank you, for laying aside the comforts we take for granted in the US and fighting the good fight under abyssmal conditions. And lastly, thank you, for laying your lives down for us here. Jesus said; "there is no greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends". May God richly bless the soldiers in the field. Bruce Henden
