Vavle adjust. outlaw 525
#4
I did the valve adjustment on my 525 today and was actually very painless. You cannot use the crank lockdown bolt for TDC on the 510cc KTM on the quad since the quad case is bigger and the lockdown bolt is too short. So I used the adjust the intake valves when the exhaust valves are half open and adjusted the exhaust valves when the intake valves were half way closed method. A helper to hold the rear brake down to hold it there is a most, (I need to thank my 12 year old daughter). An angled feeler gauge is needed to get into the tight area.
There is an in depth explanation of this and a video of this at KTMtalk under the 4 stroke rfs valve adjust section.
You can pick up new valve cover gaskets from Cycle Zone KTM [phone (785) 234-3844], part # 58036053000 for $2.77 a piece and both the short and long filter for oil changes from them for $8.30 for both filters.
Hope this helps.

Total about 1.5 hours, but I really took it slow. First time I have done the valve adjustment using the open and closing of the valve method, but I will never do it the other way now, it was so simple. Figure next time will probably be around 30-45 minutes start to finish.
The feeler gauge I used is this one. KTM angled feeler gauge
