1994 Sportsman 400 / Reverse Override
#1
Rev limiter finally went out. I'm just gonna go with the bypass, but after two hours of searching the forum, I have yet to find out how. First off, let me say this,
1994
Please don't post the link to the post with the relay and the four chunks of wire. I don't have a digital dash, a yellow button or back up lights. I do have an override button, a yellow light with an R in the middle that comes on when you push the button and a gray wire w/ a white stripe & a purple wire coming off the override switch.
Am I correct in these facts? Cut the gray/white wire, tape end of wire leading to the switch, attach other to any red/w white stripe.
Some posts have said to cut the purple wire, why? Could I use the taped end of the gray/white to engage a horn relay if the purple wire is left uncut, or do I have to to cut it, tape the "hot" end, and find another power source to route through the switch side of the purple wire? The only problem I can see is that the R light may come on when I blow the horn. I can live with that.

the newer ones you have to slice the 2 wires together to by pass it and still have the awd to work.</end quote></div>
Does it look like a tight wad like me has anything that new to mess with

You got it!Just went riding for 2 hrs and cost me almost $7.That is why I try to tell these guys the cheapest was to fix these things.
I been there done that to these things and found out the hard way that you dont need to spend a ton keeping them running or modded them to run better.
BTW I miss my old 96 400 Sportsman
