This is our first 4 wheeler and im just learning about them. any help is appreciated thanks JD from PA.

I'm not sure about the dip stick on checking the oil , but i've alway's used just regular Castrol GTX 10w40 in winter and Castrol GTX 20w50 in summer ; just make sure it has the API SG Rating on the bottle ! I used it in my first ATV , a 1986 Honda TRX 350 Foreman 4x4 and my second ATV was a 1993 Suzuki LTF 4WD 300 King Quad and both these quad's had the wet sump/engine and tranny used the same oil ! I never has a problem with either one , never even had to adjust the clutch on the Honda or Suzuki ; i sold the Honda to my baby Brother in November 2005 and sold his wife the Suzuki one week after i bought my present quad and both the Honda and Suzuki are still running strong today ! I bought a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS with the Suzuki 376cc engine/with the Duramatic belt driven Auto clutch on Feb. /07/2006 and i use the same oil in it also ! In fact my owner's manual state's : The recommended oil to use in this ATV is an oil which is rated SE , SF , or SG under API service classification ! I may change over to synthetic oil later on after i get 1000 to 1500 mile's on the Cat , but untill then i'll stick with the Castrol ; you can call a local dealer about checking the oil with the dip stick or someone will jump in and give you this info ! And welcome to the forums................williebee

I use castrol GTX 10W30 in our Raptor 80 and 50 during the spring, fall and winter and 20W40 in the summer as recommended by the manual. just push the dipstick in until the threads touch.
