I have a 2005 800 Sportsman, and lately noticed it has knocking like sound coming from the right side , in the area just behind the shifter. It doesnt knock or rattle all the time, but it does a quite a bit. It does it when idling or when driving. I noticed a nut was missing on the same side, one that holds the exhaust onto the block. The rest are still there. I check and the shields for the exhaust seem tight. Otherwise seesm to run fine, no loss of power. If you have any ideas, please do let me know.

is it an engine knock or transmission area. does it get louder when you throttle it up. the linkage isnt loose right.
