Dealer in Cortez, CO

Just a note to anyone that has any trouble with there machine in this area. The dealer does not have a single mechanic that I would trust to change my oil in my lawn mower. I have had a machine there for two weeks to have a secondary clutch installed, they claim they had the parts shipped "second day" and do not know were they are. But, no tracking number HA.
This was a problem that I had them address when I first bought the machine, all they did was install new belt and say it was fine but now it is really bad and has to be my fault because I rode it every day.
THe problem a warped secondary clutch, I have run sleds for years and never seen a warped secondary even with 2 minute climbs on nitrous.

File a complaint with the local office of the Better Business Bureau. They will interview you, investigate, and try to resolve your claim. The best thing will be that you case and complaint will be on file with them as a warning to others seeking to do business with that dealer. You can also use the BBB report to pressure Arctic Cat to make the dealer repair the quad to your satisfaction.
Under NO circumstances was any of this your fault. If they installed a new belt and told you it was fixed, they lied. You as a customer trusted them to test the unit, confirm your diagnosis, and perform the necessary repairs. They didn't, but you believed they did, and rode the quad until it blew up again. You took it back to them, and now they are lying about ordering new parts.
I share your frustration with AC dealers. I have five in my area, none are registered with the BBB; none have AC certified repair techs, and none sell ATV/UTVs exclusively. Where I live, the nearest dealer with AC certified repair techs is 185 miles away.
I like AC, I really want to buy a Prowler. But I refuse to pay 12K for a machine that I have to trust idiots to work on and wait weeks for parts for it. I have cerebral palsy, so being my own mechanic is out. Until AC cracks down on sloppy dealers, I won't buy from them.
I hope the BBB can help you, good luck.

They replaced the clutch under warranty and the machine runs better than it ever did. But I will never return to the dealer because I was asked when I picked up the machne why I yelled at his help. I had two guys in the truck with me on all conversations and there was no yelling at anyone, just asking when machine would be done and that two weeks was getting a little rediculious.
I told the owner that if he wanted me to yell at them so they could tell the diffrence next time I would be glad to help out but it may put them in tears.

SO it gets even better, bring the machine home put it in the garage, pull the dipstick this afternoon (had them change the oil for 119.00 bucks) and guess what oil runs out of the filler and dipstick tube. Apparently way over full, I cal the dealer and he tells me that I am lieing his brother did the change it has to be right so I can go F*** my self and take my business some where else.
I called Arctic Cat and filed a report, now for the BBB.

Sounds like they drained the oil from the engine and didn't change the filter, they hurriedly refilled the engine thinking the excess oil would make its way through the filter once the quad was started. Or, they did change both oil and filter and deliberately overfilled it, hoping you'd get on it; rev it up and blow oil all over you, blow itself empty in the woods leaving you stranded with probable engine damage, or at least make a big mess on the garage floor.
Either way, what they did do is sloppy work and uncalled for. Take pictures if you can, and do your best to document everything. Manager name, techs name that worked on the quad (should be on the work order), your friends that accompanied you, etc. Give it all to the BBB reps. I know it's a hassle to do all that, but it's the only weapon we have left. The only way the dealer will learn to treat customers better is to lose business.
Good Luck to you, I hope the quad stays together now. And for $119.00, I'd taken the quad to Jiffy Lube or similar place and kept the difference. I'm sure they have done motorcycles before, which uses the same type oil as quads. (But call and ask before you waste a trip).

HeftyLefty the best investment you can make on your Quad is to get either a factory O.E.M service and repair manual or a Haynes,Chilton or Clymer Manual that cover's your atv Brand Year and Model of your ATV ; That's the first thing i get when i buy a car, truck, motorcycle or ATV if i intend to keep it for a few year's ! Just one complete servie , or just a simple oil and filter change and engine tune up the manual will pay for itself ; and in your case it look's like a simple oil and oil filter change ! I bought a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS Auto 4x4 on feb/07/2006 from a dealer i had dealt with before that i had complete confidense in , her word to me is as good as a contract ; and i bought all my part's on my old Honda Foreman and 1993 Suzuki LTF 4wd ! At her shop you can trust to get as good or better price and quality work even if you bought your quad from , or a rival brand you would get the same treatment as anyone who bought from her dealership or not ! I bought a complete carburator rebuild kit for less than my local Honda dealer charged me for 2 of the rubber O'Ring gasket for the carb bowl and main jet for my old 1986 Honda TRX 350 Foreman , and it was the same way with my 1993 Suzuki 300 K.Q. ! This lady started racing when she was 4yrs old , her father and older brother were the first Cam Am dealer in north ga i guess that's what got her interested in racing she won her first trophy ; and her first national motocross championship at the ripe old age of 8 yrs old ! By the time she was 13 yrs old she took over the shop and started doing all the machine work on all the engine's and bike set up's in between racing break's and she was one of the first women in Bush Series Racing stock car racing / her last sponser was Maiden Form . But with her cycle, atv dealership she spend's alot more time selling everything from ATV's , Racing bike;s moto cross machine's even mt. bike and an entire inventory os safety equiptment ; the whole work's ! I would give out the name of her dealership , but i know the rules about adverting ; and i don't want to get in dutch with the Moderaer on the forums ! Sorry for the long reply ...........................williebee
