Lighting Problems 1995 Honda Foreman 4X4
#1
I am fixing up a 1995 Honda Foreman 4X4 that I recently bought. The problem I have is that all of the lights i.e., both headlights, both taillights, assist light, and even the brake light all come on as soon as you turn on the ignition switch. The yellow rocker light ON/OFF switch on the left handlebar does not do anything, but the High/Low headlight rocker switch does work. Can't see any damaged, cut or modified wiring. I would appreciate any help in trying to fix the problem. Thanks.

Start by cleaning/ drying out all electrical connections in the harness with WD-40 (it dries wet ignition/ electrical circuits) or similar cleaner. I'd use Q-tips and old toothbrushes as cleaning tools. Corrosion in electrical connections does funny things.
Next test your rear brake light switch with a voltmeter or test light for proper operation. Check the switch for continuity in the circuit. A busted one can ground out the whole lighting circuit. It should be connected to the rear brake pedal by a small spring or actuator rod.
Next pull the yellow rocker switch and test it for continuity with the voltmeter.
Finally check the key switch, I know it probably is OK; but like Sherlock Holmes said 'Once the probable causes have been examined and eliminated, all thats left are the improbable ones'. Since it's an old quad it might be worn enough to be the cause.
Once you get it working properly, put dielectric grease on all moisture prone connections. This will help stop corrosion.
Hope this helps.
