new to ds650 03 hard shiting
#1
i'm new to the world of ds650. just bought an 03 and the upshift from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th is very stiff. it gets stiffer 3 to 4 and 4 to 5 and not in a good way. also the bike has ron woo cams, k&n filter and jet kit, stock exaust. it runs way harder in the bottom and mid than my buddies stock 04. any ideas on pipe rec. /any help w/shifting issue is greatly app. (i bought the ds so i can retire my stroker quadzilla, tired of race fuel, kicking it over etc)

i suggest magnesium sulfate! If that doesn't get it to come out, then you will need to see a doctor as soon as possible!
J/k, but I don't know what to tell ya about the shifting problem with you quad...just had to be a smart a$$ for a minute! Sorry

Welcome aboard new2. You'll meet many new friends here and find much valuable information. And a few clowns like Bryan!
I had the same situation on two of my 03's. Be sure that your clutch cable is adjusted properly, both on the crankcase and up at the lever. Hopefully that fixes it. It may have been ran pretty hard and have some bent shift forks. Let's hope not, they're a biatch to get into and replace. If you've got all of the mods listed and still running the stock endcap then you are nowhere near reaching the potential in that beast. HPR endcap will do the trick. Or PM Bryan, he may be able to help you out in that arena...

Suprised the title hasnt been fixed yet.
Like ace said try adjusting your cable.
Before you rip into the engine thinking its shift forks.
Try replacing the clutch.
Even if it is a barnett clutch,The only shifting problem
i ever had was from 1st to 2nd.After that it was smooth.
Good luck
