Ok,
Here is the scoop. I have ridden dirt bikes for over 25 years and love to ride wheelies and have power on demand.
I like to ride trails and possibly a pipe dream of a hare scramble some day. I am going to buy an atv to replace my dirtbike.
Did I mention I like to wheelie ?
Looking at a 400 ex , DRz400 or a YFZ450 .
What do you guys recommend ? I want reliability and wheelie power.

The EX is the all time wheelie king, but it is also the lowest on top speed. The EX's forte is as a tight trail quad. It has a torquey engine that doesn't mind being lugged down and ridden slow in the technical stuff. It does well in open country and fast trails...it just isn't as fast as the other performance quads. Great handling, and one of the most reliable machines on the planet. It is probably getting updates this year. Maybe fuel injection? A suspension upgrade?

The Z is pretty much an EX knockoff with a faster engine. It likes to rev more than the EX, and it isn't as torquey. It wheelies alright. I never did like how mine jumped...always came off the ramp nose low.

Among the 450's the YFZ is a good all around machine. It feels very stable and planted. The fastest of these three, but it likes to rev not lug, so it isn't the hot setup for a tight trail.

 

Well never had any experience on a 400ex ,but my Z400 has been bullet proof ,riden hard good jumper and wheelies on command ,also has a liquid cooled motor and reverse ,but if you want even more power look at any of the 450's Kawie just came out with theres and it has reverse ,so look at them all ,
