Trans question I just picked up a 86 TRX 70 for $250 the thing won't go into first gear. I have never to messed with a gear box. But there is a first time for everything any suggestions on what the problem could be?



Do I have access to the gear box by taking the right side case off? or do I need to take the engine off and crack the case?

 

The center crankcase must be split to work on the transmission .. The shift linkage can be checked by removing the clutch cover .. Do the other gears work ..?.. It is a 4 speed transmission..

 

yeah its a 4 speed it won't shift into first from neutral

 

There are pins on the end of the shift drum , the gearshift arm uses these pins to turn the shift drum .. Something is either wrong with the 1st pin or the gearshift arm ..

hey guys ,not sure who to ask,
i have a 83 atc honda 200E with hi lo gears .i took off the cover .there is two shims (washers ) and the gizmos inside the cover. i want to reassemble the cover with the gizmos but am not sure of the process,any body can help???
