Rookie Needs Help

Help,
My TRX250 2006 gave me trouble starting about 1 month ago. Finally got it going and it ran fine. Has been sitting for about 3 weeks now it would not start. Started with the choke on. Once I took choke off it stopped. Then it did not turn on at all any more. New Rider, what could be the problem.

Start by cleaning the fuel system, including removing the carb and cleaning the jets and bowl. Napa sells a 2 gallon carb cleaning bucket with a basket for soaking them in. To prevent this happening again,
1. Start the engine at least every month to run the old gas out.
2. Put preservative in your tank during off months when you don't ride.
I have been doing this for 15 years and haven't had a problem in the 15 years.

Thanks, RedRubi
I will try that. Just called a local bike and atv shop and they wanted to charge me 150.00 for service, talked about adjusting the valves and rebuilding the carb. I am thinking my atv is only 1 year old, So hopefully this works and will save me alot of headache and money.
thanks again

You should have done a valve adjustment at 20 hours, just after the engine is nicely broken in! This is the most neglected piece of maintenance there is...most folks NEVER do a valve adjustment, much less the 20 hour one.
At 20 hours, my 06 250's valves were very tight!
