Default OIL STRAINER CLEANING???

I HEARD ITS A GOOD IDEA TO CLEAN THE OIL STRAINER ON THE OUTTIES. THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS EVERY 200 HOURS. I HAVE ABOUT 60 HOURS ON MINE NOW. IM GETTING READY TO DO MY SECOND OIL CHANGE. MANUAL SAYS TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO CLEAN THE OIL STRAINER. WELL. IM PRETTY HANDY WITH THESE THINGS. CAN I DO THIS MYSELF?? ANY SPECIAL TOOLS, WHERE IS IT LOCATED? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT AS THE MANUAL DOESNT SHOW AND EXPLAIN THE PROCESS AT ALL. PICS WOULD BE GREAT ALSO.THANKS GUYS. TIM.

The oil strainer is located at the bottom of the engine, dead center adove the frame. The only way to access the oil strainer cover is to remove engine mounting bolts to lift engine up. To do this you will have to remove anything connected to the engine that would hamper its lifting. I don't expect to many people or dealers perform this service. I suspect this screen holds the initial engine break in debris. Ask your dealer if its necessary.
