Default 08 Rancher and 400ex and 07 Rancher

Okay heres the thing, Im selling my 400ex and my Rancher 420. No problems with 400ex but my rancher keeps breaking because of the es. Everytime i wash it or go through mud it doesnt shift it lock in one gear and i have to lift it to the dealer. Im tired of spending 500 everytime to get it fixed. So im wondering if they made and changes from the 07 rancher to the 08 because there not on the website yet. Also how much do you think its worth in perfect running condition. It has 50 hours on it. Any help would be greatly appreiciated thanks.

could you explain to me what they are replacing for 500$ everytime you wash it or go through mud

PS: if you are going to sell it as if its in perfect condition why are you making a thread that says everytime YOU (with YOUR machine) drive through anything wet that you are paying big bucks to fix it

Im not replacing anything in it. It just takes them so long to take all the electricals apart its just a lot of labor. And when they fix it, it is always perfect so thats why. Im going to get it fixed one more time and sell it.

Is it still on warranty??? Do you have a lemon law in your state??? If it was chronically giving you problems while still on warranty and could not ever be fixed, you have a great case for asking Honda to replace it with a foot shift model!

I think the 08 is going to be available with power steering....for a price. I doubt they will have changed the ES system. Hopefully, the 400EX will get fuel injection for 08 (????).

Thats the main reason I did not buy the ES model. My salesman kept pushing me to buy it and I had alot of doubt in my mind about the reliability of it. I've rode the hell out of mine so far, rolled it down a steep hill in tennessee and have had 0 problems other than scratches and bending my rear rack. Honda also switched my warranty to 1 year since it was so close to the new models coming out . I don't see how you would have to pay $500 every time to get it fixed over and over. I would had done cussed someone out if I were you and either wait for the 08 rancher or go get a foot shift 07.

Do you know anything about the 08 ranchers? Because there not posted on the site yet so maybe they changed them? And does your foot shift model have a digital screen like the es?

I have had problems once with my 07 Rancher ES. They finally figured it out after having it for about a week. Water was in my connectors. They said to keep it greased up with some kind of electrical grease. Havent had to do it yet so hopefully it will be fine.

I think the change for 08 will simply be the availability of a power steering option. Maybe electronically selectable 2wd/4wd also????

The foot shift models don't have the digital screen. Never had one on any machine I have ever owned....and never missed having it one little bit!

Having a digital screen would be nice, but I find myself never wishing I had one while on the trails. Just one less part on the bike to break.

This past saturday I went riding at the Uwharrie national park (NC) trails and the rancher rode good... the only problem that I really ran into were clearance problems. If anyones ever rode at uwharrie, there are numerous trails with some very rocky parts. I had a little trouble getting through some parts cause these stock tires just suck. The bike would slide around or just bottom out in tricky spots. My buddy rode his yamaha big bear with 26" swamp fox's and he had no problems. It'd be great if they would atleast put some 25's on the 08 models to compensate for some of the ground clearance.

What aftermarket tires do you guys recommend I put on that will give me a better grip, but not sacrifice the ride quality ??

Ah you riding in my neck of woods. I rode my 07 rancher 2wd there and figured out my frontend is way to light. Got to put a winch on it for a little more weight.
I dont live far from Uwharrie, about 15 miles in Star if you have ever heard of it.
Did you ride up and down the Daniel trail. It can get fairly rough.
