450r new exhaust problem
#1
ok guys so I got an lrd pro 4 exhuast for my 450r and had the dealer do it. I had them put it on and jet it and service it. I bring it home and ride it and backfires like crazy and when you go full throttle it bogs like crazy. I took off the seat and the airbox lid was off. I didnt want it off. He only jetted for the exhuast. He forgot to put it back on. Do you think this is causing the backfiring and the bogging?

Seems pretty simple....get the lid back, put it on and see if there is a difference! Makes sense that it would backfire without the lid, because that's a sign it is lean (getting to much air).

Sounds like the problem to me. Just put the lid on and try it out.
I agree with the good doctor here. I'd have a word with the guys who serviced it. Tell them that their forgetfulness is burning up your engine.

Like they said put the lid on or bump up the main jet to a 170. I liked running with no lid but I used a Outwears lid cover to keep the big stuff off. They work great. I've even used a old pair of panty hose sliped over the lid which I cut out a big hole and it worked great also.
I'd go in there and let them have a peice of my mind. Some of these guys working on quads would greatly increase there knowledge if they would spend a few hours each week reading some of these quad sites. I would always do my own work so I know it's done right and if I cant then I'd bring it in in peices. Always beaware of your local Dealership's wrench turners!
