Default 06 RANCHER ES TROUBLE

WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BIKE SHIFT INDICATOR STARTS BLINKING TWICE AND I CANNOT SHIFT THE BIKE UNLESS I TURN IT OFF AND ON. IF I DISCONNECT THE THE 3 BRAKE LIGHT RELAY'S( 2 ON HANDEL BAR AND 1 ON FOOT BRAKE) THE BIKE WORKS FINE. HOWEVER I DON'T HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS. I FOUND THAT THE CODE IT'S BLINKING MEANS CHECK ES. SOMEWHERE THERE MUST BE A SHORT WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE TRIED HOOKING UP THE BRAKE RELAY'S ONE AT A TIME TO SEE IF IT WAS ONE OF THEM CAUSING THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STILL DID IT. ANYONE ELSE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM?

If you look in the right front fenderwell, past the inner fender, there is a row of connectors. Unplug the big green one. For ease of doing this I remove the rack and front fender. Once the connector is unplugged, clean it by spraying a electrical cleaner (not brake/contact cleaner), a tuner spray. Blow both male and female connections with compressed air and reconnect. Remove the seat and do the same to the ECM connections. The problem should go away.
If not replace the left handlebar switch assembly. On units that I have replaced the switch assembly, I have not had time to trace the wires back to find the problem within the switch assembly itself. Been busy backloaded with goldwing cruise issues and farmer/rancher's units since it is harvest time, to find the root of evil. They say moisture in the connector has been the culperate, I have not been able to confirm that diagnosis.

Cleaned the plugs like you suggested and it worked like a champ.

Thanks,

Default 06 RANCHER ES TROUBLE

Hello,
I have a 2000 model Rancher that has ES problems. When I get ready to start sometimes it won't go to neutral. I have to get the wrench and put it in manually. Then when it starts I have to put it in gear. Sometimes it will go on and shift to other gears, sometimes it won't. You sound very sharp on these and I would really appreciate your help. The dealer can't fix it so far. Thank You
