scrambler 500 backfire

Default scrambler 500 backfire

i got a 2000 scrambler 500 4x4 backfires on slow down after full speed its all stock with k&n air filter any help

my sportsman 700 does the same thing every once in a while. does yours do it all the time? check your spark plug and also clean out the spark arrestor. also check your carb, it may be running too rich causing it to load up

Default scrambler 500 backfire

a backfire under de-acceleration usually indicates a lean condition. you can adjust your needle setting to richen it up a bit, see if that helps. mine did it until i replaced the stock pilot jet #40 with a 42.5. went away after that.

thanks ill try changing the jet like you said.ill try anything im at my witts end it backfires all the time
