Default Help? 07 Renegade Visco Lok problems

Need a little help here guys. My Visco Lok doesn't seem to be working. I've gotten stuck several times the other day and the front tires never did spin. Has anyone had this problem?? I only have 6 hours on my 07 Renegade. I looked on the web site and see they changed the Visco this year in the 08. Obviously they have had problems with it. I contacted my deeler and her didn't seem to know of any problems which I find hard to believe. I got buried several times and regretable had to have my buddies pull me out with there polaris's. Yea, I still getting SH** about that. I had to go in reverses a couple times and the back tires will spin but the front does absolutely nothing. I do notice a clunk every now and then when I'm going. I'm very frusturated after spending this much dough. I miss my scrambler now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You just never know, some people may think it's full time all the time. If you did, and the front tires still didnt spin at all, then bring it back, under warranty. I haven't experienced that but something may have went wrong. My question is, was the 4wd indicator light on, and did you have it stopped when you tried putting in into 4wd, assuming you did flip the switch that is? Maybe you you put it into 4wd as some point whiel the back tires were already under power, that could have seriously damaged the front differential. Another question, when you do flip the switch into 4wd, do you hear it the 4wd engage? Either it isn't engaging at all or you damaged the front differential. I have to tell you, with the exception of the visco-lock not engaging right away, I think mine works beautifully. Don't forget you should be stiopped when it engages or at least going really slow and not under power. Otherwise there is a possibilty of causing damage. Why chance it. That clunking noise doesn't sound good. I never hear anything like that on mine.

Good Question and yes. When I got really buried I didn't put it in till I was quite stuck but it never did start spinning the front wheels. Not sure if you have to be going forward before it will lock in?

The left wheels will spin a couple times before the right one will, and then you have to keep on the gas or else the right one will disengage again. That what they changed for 08, it engages quicker. Did you hear the mechanism engage when you flip the switch? It's either electrical , or you damaged something in the front diff. Put it up on a jack, in two wheel drive, then let off the gas, try four wheel drive. Does the 4wd light come on? If it doesn't bring it back, that's why it has a warranty.

Thanks for your replies. I will get it up on jacks this evening and give it a try. I know it was working last winter when I was riding it on the river. Lets hope its nothing. I still have a few hours to go till I take it in for my 10 hour checkup. I really wish they had a manual switch for 4 wheel drive all the time. Not so sure this Visco it the way to go. Oh well, I have to deel with it for awhile. Don't think the boss will let me go shopping again this year. I guess the power makes up for the 4wd.

Works great for me. If something isn't working bring it back and have it fixed instead of second guessing what the problem might be.

On my recent ride I lost four wheel drive. I checked my fuses and had blown a 20amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and the four wheel drive worked again.

You may have blown a fuse when playing in the water.

To check this, turn on your key but not the engine. Push the four wheel drive button and you should hear the little motor changing it into four wheel drive. Then turn off four wheel drive and you should hear the motor again. Also. the dash board indicator light won't come on if it didn't go into four wheel drive.

Like I said, check your fuses and see if one has been blown....

My bro in law has the exact same problem. When it happens to his we smell belt. Numerous occasions especially in mud bogs it just sinks we hear engine but no movement.

Its just your average mud as well nothing crazy its almost like the belt gets wet or something and just spins?

I dont know much about these but as I stated he has the same issues?
