I recently bought a 99 300 ex for $300. The right rear fender is missing, the rear brakes don't work, the front right wheel is warped, the reverse lever is mising, the seat is tore... It starts right up but the quad has been somewhat beat.

After I fix the necessities will this quad be worth making several modifications such as exhaust, jetting, hot cam, sprockets etc..?

Is a 300 capable of geting into the 75+ mph range? Basically, is it worth modding, and if so how much $ would it probly take?

Why and where would you run this machine 75+ mph?

It's not that it would be a common thing for me to top it out, but I was just wondering if or how much effort it would take to get it to be that fast.

a stock 300ex will top at about 55 mph. now if you want to make it faster for like $300 to $500 get an air filter like a uni foam or k@n about $30 then a 14th front sprockt about $40 and an exhaust slip on about $200 or more full is about $350 or more.check out ebay you may get lucky and get a used exhaust for $60 like one of my friends.
