Can you add Engine Braking?
#1
I am looking at getting a 2007 800 Standard model, but I want it to have the Engine Braking for going downhill. I know I can get the Deluxe model, but don't want the other stuff that comes with it, such as the Polaris Winch (I want to add a Warn Winch).
Any input is helpful...thanks.

I believe you can add EBS. But you talk about wanting it for going downhill, do you mean steep hills? Because the basic EBS isn't great for steep hills, as it acts on the rear wheels only and if the descent is steep enough, the rears will just lock up and skid down the hill.
ADC (Active Descent Control) is different, it engages the front differential so that EBS acts on all four wheels. EBS is nice, but ADC is soooo much nicer if you ride on steep stuff.

the great thing about ebs is that it realy saves on your brakes as it cuts the use of the brakes more then in half. my wifes 450 would run for ever before it stops w/out the use of the brakes where my other sportsmans w/ the ebs slows down pretty good. they do work not bad on hills, you just have to keep the wheels from locking up by giving a little throttle to keep the clutch engaged, just like we do on the 450 to keep what little natual engine braking there is. hope this helps a little.
