Default lt 80 dune setup

I just bought my sons an 01 lt 80, and when we took it to the dunes it was realy doggy. It got stuck on even small short hills. It would just stop spining the tires and sounded like a chainsaw stuck in wood all bogged down. The bike has an FMF fatty pipe and the head was shaved .030, and cylender ported. They put a thirteen tooth front gear, and im not sure what I can do to help the power out. compresion cheked out at 125. Any help would be great. Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
The FMF should grunt the motor. What clutch set-up you running (rollers)?

Thanks for the welcome.
I have read your advice to others, and have removed two of the stock rollers, but I have not had the bike back on the sand yet. I believe the rest of the clutch system is stock though. I also decided to replace the stock 92.5 mian jet with a 97.5, but found they had put in a 117.5!! The bike seems to have more power in the back yard now, but the sand will be another story.

I'd be putting in a 90 main jet.

Well we got a chance to go to the dunes, and the bike did much better, but it did get to hot, lost power and died on a long ride. It cooled off and ran fine later, so I dont think it hurt it any. Would putting a smaller jet in cause it to run even leaner and over heat more often? I also put on a stock ten tooth sprocket instead of the thirteen. I think this should help it in the sand.

Whoa yea,,the 10 is what sprocket to run.
With the 13 sprocket,I'm sure the clutchs were over heating.
Look at the plug and see if it's black, brown, etc.
I think your way big on jets, but I could be wrong.
